Comments: | The cells do not express HLA-DR, HLA-DQ, IgM , IgD or T cell rantigen receptor. Exposure of DB cells to phorbol esters (PMA or PdBu) that activate protein kinase C results in profound growth inhibition. They are reported to be negative for the Epstein-Barr virus genome. The cells were cured of a prior mycoplasma contamination by a 21 day treatment with BM-cycline.
